Carl-Friedrich-Gauß-Fakultät

Department of Computer Science

We offer a

W2 Professorship for AI-based Robotics

The appointment is planned for October 1, 2025.

Your responsibilities

The professorship will represent the field of robotics at the TU Braunschweig in its breadth. Research will focus on the integration of modern data-driven approaches based on modern AI methods in complex robotic systems. Methodological orientations can be, for example, current “sim-to-real” and “real-to-sim” approaches, transformer approaches to describe complex robotic missions or intuitive interaction modalities between humans and robotic systems in collaborative scenarios. You will work in an interdisciplinary manner between the theoretical and methodological investigation of modern learning procedures on the one hand and their implementation, application and evaluation in real robotic systems on the other.

In teaching, you will offer topic-related courses in the fields of robotics and methods of artificial intelligence/machine learning, which on the one hand attractively complement the Bachelor's and Master's degree programs of the Department of Computer Science and on the other hand enrich the curricula of the degree programs of the Faculties of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering.

The successful candidate (f/m/d) is expected to be committed to the university’s strategic goals and to actively shape its holistic development (https://www.tu-braunschweig.de/hochschulentwicklung). In addition to the classic service areas of a university (research, teaching and studies, transfer, governance and administration), this applies in particular to digitalisation, internationalisation, equality and diversity, as well as knowledge exchange.
