„Aircraft Conceptual Design“
SALARY-GR. W 2

Filling of the position is planned for October 1st, 2022.

Responsibilities

The professorship covers fundamental research of simulation methodology for conceptual design of future means of sustainable air transportation and its application. The professorship is part of the Institute of Aircraft Design and Light Weight Structures, and contributes to managing the institute. The professorship is expected to contribute to collaborative works within the Aeronautics Research Centre Niedersachsen (NFL) and the Cluster of Excellence for Sustainable and Energy Efficient Aviation (SE²A) at TU Braunschweig.

The desired research fields comprise the following fields:

  • Method development for simulating conceptual design of aircraft with complex systems of energy storage and conversion
  • Assessment of new aircraft configurations
  • Technology assessment for future means of air transport

The professorship shall also reflect corresponding methods and recent research results in the form of new teaching content and modules. In teaching, the professorship is integrated into the Bachelor's and Master's degree programmes of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, in particular the Master's programs in Aerospace Engineering and Mechanical Engineering / Industrial Engineering.

Our expectations

  • Proven research and teaching experience in at least two of the above listed areas
  • High-ranking publications in international journals
  • Active participation in the NFL as well as in the Cluster of Excellence SE²A. 
  • Relevant experience in the acquisition and implementation of basic and application-oriented third-party funded projects 
  • Research-oriented teaching in the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, especially in the Bachelor Programme Sustainable Engineering of Products and Processes and in the Master programs in Aerospace Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering.
  • Active participation in interdisciplinary joint projects
  •  Willingness to participate in interdisciplinary collaborative research programs 
  • Very good command of the English language and willingness to perform lecturing in English
  • Willingness to actively participate in the self-administration of the university, especially the faculty 
  • Willingness to participate in the internationalization of the university

Requirements, § 25 NHG

  • Completed university studies
  • Pedagogical suitability proven by results of course evaluation
  • Special qualification for deepened independent scientific work, which is usually demonstrated by an above-average doctorate and
  • Habilitation or habilitation-adequate qualifications
