subject to the release of the position, the appointment within the framework of the Federal-Länder Program for the Promotion of Young Scientists (Nachwuchspakt) is to be made as soon as possible, at the latest by 30.04.2023.

Your responsibilities

We are looking for a person with expertise in the field of engineering science and social science and humanities gender research.

Against the background of the challenges brought about by the paradigm shift in the building industry – triggered among other things by the energy transition –, we understand interdisciplinary cooperation at the interfaces of civil, electrical and mechanical engineering as basis for the successful implementation of sustainable strategies for the technical environment in urban and building planning.

This concerns, for example, the development and application of digital tools for planning and production as well as strategic considerations in energy supply and building technology down to the materiality of building materials.

The professorship aims to develop, integrate and establish gender studies both as research of inequalities and as reflexive science in the above-mentioned thematic topics. In cooperation with the Faculties 3 (Architecture, Civil Engineering and Environmental Sciences), 4 (Mechanical Engineering) and 5 (Electrical Engineering, Information Technology, Physics) of the TU Braunschweig, the aim is to research and teach the challenging issues of the future not only in terms of engineering content, but also in a socially holistic manner.

The post comes with teaching duties according to the NHG (4 SWS) at various levels of student education in the programs of Faculties 3, 4 and 5.

Our expectations

  • Completed university studies with a focus on a subject relevant to the engineering sciences (e.g. architecture, civil engineering, environmental environmental sciences, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering or a related subject)
  • Research experience in the field of "Gender Studies" as mentioned in the job description
  • Experience in international research cooperations (evidenced, for example, by corresponding stays abroad)
  • Acquisition and managing of third-party funded projects as well as Co-organisation of cooperation projects
  • Close cooperation with the departments of Faculties 3, 4 and 5 and in particular with the research focus areas "City of the Future" and/or "Mobility"
  • Very good English language skills and willingness to teach courses in English
  • Willingness to participate in the internationalization of the university and in research
  • Willingness to participate in the self-administration of the university

Requirements

  • A completed qualified university education
  • Pedagogical suitability, proof of this is to be provided by a teaching sample at TU Braunschweig
  • Qualification for in-depth independent academic work, which is usually demonstrated by an above-average doctorate and was received no longer than 4 years ago at the time of appointment.
