„SOFTWARE ENGINEERING FOR SAFETY CRITICAL SYSTEMS“
Salary-Gr. W2 tenure track W3

Your responsibilities

Integrated into the Lower Saxony Research Center for Aviation (NFL) and the Cluster of Excellence Sustainable and Energy-Efficient Aviation (SE2A), the professorship acts as a link between engineering and computer science. The applicant (m/f/d) should have a scientific profile in the area of software engineering for safety-critical systems, with a focus on system development and analysis, taking into account safety and security requirements. The future position holder is expected to have an excellent track record in several of the following research areas:

  • Systems development, for example, formal methods, correctness-by-construction, specification, synthesis, programming languages, semantics, type and effect systems, program logics
  • System analysis, for example, automatic, manual, or mechanized verification, abstract interpretation, static analysis, runtime analysis, statistical analysis, test procedures, diagnosis, repair, SAT/SMT solvers, theorem provers, timing analysis, resource requirements
  • System classes, for example, embedded, reactive, cyber-physical or autonomous systems, concurrent, distributed, networked or cooperating systems

Our expectations

  • Interest in interdisciplinary research, especially readiness for interdisciplinary collaboration in the Lower Saxony Research Center for Aeronautics (NFL)
  • Research experience on an international level (e.g. through postdoctoral stays)
  • Outstanding scientific results, proven by publications of the highest rank, scientific awards, etc.
  • Strong teamwork, management and leadership skills
  • Commitment to Bachelor's and Master's programs in Computer Science, Information Systems Engineering, Data Science, as well as Business Information Systems, especially with respect to undergraduate education in Theoretical Computer Science
  • Very good command of the English language and willingness to teach courses in English
  • Commitment to increasing the internationalization and international visibility of TU Braunschweig
  • Willingness to participate in the self-governance of the university

Requirements, § 25 NHG

  • Completed university studies
  • Pedagogical suitability, proof of this is to be provided by a teaching sample
  • Special qualification for deepended independent scientific work, which is usually demonstrated by an above-average doctorate and
  • Habilitation or habilitation-adequate qualifications

The employment takes place with fulfillment of the general service-legal conditions in a civil service relationship on time in accordance with § 28 Abs. 1 S. 1 No. 5 NHG for a period of five years. In the event of a positive outcome of the procedure regulated in the tenure-track regulations of the TU Braunschweig, an appointment to a permanent professorship in grade W3 NBesO will be made without further advertisement.
