Professorship for Electrochemistry of Energy Storage (W3)

The appointment is for the earliest possible date.

Your responsibilities

We are looking for an internationally recognized researcher in the field of "Electrochemistry of Energy Storage" with an interdisciplinary research and teaching profile in electrochemistry. The professorship should focus on basic research with a methodological or analytical focus in at least one of the following areas: Solid-state battery cells, (bio)fuel cells, electrolysis, electrocatalysis (e. g. for the conversion of renewable carbon sources such as biomass and carbone dioxid), redox-flow batteries, photovoltaics, molecular energy transfer, electrochemical synthesis (e. g. of e-fuels) and related topics.

The professorship is associated with teaching duties at all levels of undergraduate education in the field of electrochemistry.

The successful candidate (f/m/d) is expected to support the university's key strategic themes across all performance dimensions (Research, Study and Teaching, Transfer, and Governance and Administration): internationalisation, sustainability, digitalisation, equality and diversity, transfer, and knowledge exchange.

  • Internationally recognized researcher in the field of electrochemistry
  • Successful track record of aquiring external research funding
  • Strong teamwork, management and leadership skills
  • Involvement in Bachelor's and Master's degree programmes in Chemistry as well as Battery and Hydrogen Technology, Sustainable Energy Systems and Electromobility and Sustainable Energy Technology
  • Very good command of the English language and willingness to teach in English
  • Readiness to network locally and nationally with working groups within and outside the Faculty of Life Sciences and with non-university research institutions
  • Willingness to engage in interdisciplinary cooperation, especially within the important core research areas of the TU Braunschweig such as "Mobility" or "Future City" as well as the excellence clusters "Sustainable and Energy-Efficient Aviation" and "Quantum Frontiers" and the research centers such as the Battery LabFactory Braunschweig (BLB) or the Automotive Research Centre Niedersachsen (NFF)

International research and teaching experience, excellent command of the English language, as well as the ability and willingness to teach courses in English are a prerequisite.

  • A degree in a relevant field
  • Pedagogical aptitude
  • Special qualification for in-depth independent scientific work, as a rule proven by an above-average doctorate
  • Additional academic achievements, usually within the framework of a junior professorship, a post-doctoral degree (Habilitation) or through achievements equivalent to a Habilitation
